Let’s go a little down memory lane. Think of the best meals you’ve had. The pure joy as each spoon/morsel went down your throat. The excitement of finding that new food vendor whose food just seems to brighten up your day. You’re craving some of those delicacies, right? If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll know finding these beautiful spots is just as exciting as the food they sell. So, if you are an OAU student or are familiar with Ile-Ife and its surroundings, this is for you.

Eating out in Ife can be a hectic sport. This is due to the fact that Ile-Ife has a diverse range of food vendors, ranging from good to average to poor. I’ll know because I took my time checking out many of these vendors, and some of the food I ate had me in the toilet for days. At this point, I believe it is safe to say that selling bad food should be a crime.

To save you from going through what I did, I’ve compiled a list of the best food plugs in Ife that you should definitely try out. These food vendors sell delectable foods that will leave you wanting more. So, these are the top 5 food plugs in Ile-Ife in no particular order.

1. HotSoup Ñ More

Hotsoup is located at Maintenance market, Block 7. The food store is open from Monday to Saturday between 9 am to 7 pm. Hot soup has an extensive and diverse menu. They serve special breakfast meals, local dishes, delicious rice dishes, pasta, grills, finger foods, soups, and cocktails, amongst many others. All of this and more are available at reasonable prices.

Hotsoup has different menus for different days of the week as well as  Saturday combo trays. You really can’t afford to not check them out.

Hotsoup is, without a doubt, one of those food vendors that you can never get enough of. Unlike some other food vendors, the consistency of the taste is simply remarkable. There is also a unique aspect to the brand’s packaging that deserves recognition.

Customers of Hotsoup can’t stop raving about how delicious and filling food from the brand is. There is also excellent feedback and comments on the brand’s customer service.

Kitchen Royale is an Ife-based food hub. They provide physical catering services for events as well as nationwide doorstep delivery of food, snacks, cakes, and desserts. The online store is open from Monday through Saturday.

Kitchen Royale is well-known for serving tasty delectable meals and pastries that customers can’t get enough of at very reasonable prices. They also offer special breakfast trays that are both sumptuous and reasonably priced.

Kitchen Royale offers a diverse menu that has been carefully curated to ensure customer satisfaction. Over time, the food hub has made a name for itself in Ife and its surroundings, and everyone who knows it has positive things to say about the food and easy delivery services provided by the brand.

Sizzle is a food brand specializing in preparing and selling pasta and small chops. The pasta shop is located in Block 5, Shop 4 at Maintenance Market, and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On the other hand, the small chops store is located at Rectas hostel first gate, opp maintenance and is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

Sizzle Stir Fry is well-liked by its customers due to the consistency of its distinct flavor. In addition, customers rave about how well-seasoned and tasty the chicken and turkey are at Sizzle.

Sizzle guarantees that you will get good food at a reasonable price:

  • The stir-fry pasta with shredded hotdog and turkey cost #1,300.

4. Iya Mariam

This list won’t be complete without a traditional “mama put” food plug. If you’re craving for some delectable porridge and efo, Iya Mariam is that woman. Offering other traditional meals like eba, pounded yam, semo, and amala, you’re never out of choices. Her efo stew is a hill of delicacy I can die on (you should try it too!). However, she also has jollof rice and white rice if you’re not in the mood for swallow. Her beans and bread is another good delicacy you can opt for.

5. Chop Chaw

While the name choice for this restaurant is quite puzzling, their food is way better. Based in Damico, the restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. There is also a delivery option for whenever you place an order.

Chop Chaw’s menu is divided into three sections: breakfast, lunch/dinner, and specials, which are only available from Wednesday to Friday. Pancakes, yam and egg sauce or vegetable sauce, white rice, and meat or chicken are all on the breakfast menu. The lunch/dinner menu includes a variety of local dishes, Jollof and fried rice, as well as stir-fry spaghetti. Banga soup and starch, as well as Owo soup and starch, are available on the specials menu.

They are known for their affordable prices for very delicious meals.
